The classic Christmas tune “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” may be just what your little one is feeling this Christmas season. Although some kids enjoy the attention they get from others when they’re missing their front two teeth, others are anxious to be able to eat normally again, or to have their mouths feel normal again. Regardless of what side of the spectrum your kid falls on, here are some ideas on how you can help your children take care of their teeth this Christmas season!

1. Be careful with the Christmas goodies! The holiday season is full of sugary treats and that’s part of what makes it so fun for everyone! But be careful with the amount of sugary treats that you let your little ones eat because even if they are brushing their teeth, large amounts of sugar can still cause tooth decay.

2. Don’t forget to brush during the holidays! With family schedules changing during the Christmas break, it can be hard to keep the same good habits that you normally have. But don’t let tooth-brushing fall to the wayside! Find a way to make sure that your kids (and you) are still brushing your teeth all throughout the break! It will make all the difference for that next time you visit your pediatric dentist in Medford, Oregon.

3. Watch out for those toys! Be careful not to use your teeth to unscrew any lids, break any plastic wrapping, or adjust any of your new Christmas toys! It’s natural to want to use your teeth for this if your hands just are not working, but just don’t! Your teeth are more sensitive and fragile than you treat them sometimes! So be careful!
